These past few days it has been raining pretty hard, it is evident that the summer season has ended and the rainy season has officially begun. For some, this is a great way to cool down from the annoying summer heat. As we bid the hot weather goodbye, we should now be prepared for the heavy rains that the rainy season will bring. Aside from packing up our raincoats, preparing emergency kits, and staying tuned on our radio and televisions for weather updates, we must never forget to exercise appropriate caution when it comes to electrical safety.

Unawareness of electrical safety procedures during the rainy season may lead to damage to properties, injuries or even death. We listed down some simple guidelines which will help you keep your family safe. Here are some safety precautions that you should practice during the rainy season:

MES 1303-1306 EXTENSION SET

  • Before plugging or unplugging devices, make sure that you switch off the power points first. Do not overload power outlets and replace your damaged extension cords with high quality products. The Meiji 13 and 20 Series Extension Cord MES-1303 to 1306, WRP 2104 and 2027 are high quality power strips with ratings from 1,200 to 2,500 Watts that comes in 3 to 5-meter ranges. It consists of 3 to 6 international outlets for the 13 series and 3 parallel outlets for the 20 series.

  • In no way should you use appliances with faulty, exposed or splintered electrical wires. Do not touch wet electrical switches or anything electrical with bare hands and bare feet.

  • You should never leave your homes with heat producing appliances still switched on (i.e. iron, oven, microwave, hair dryers, and electric stove).

Meiji Home Panels

  • When doing minor repairs like wirings or replacement of circuit breaker, make sure that the main circuit breaker is turned off at all times. Update your home electrical system with the latest home electrical distribution system. The Meiji Home Panel (MHP) comes in different sizes which are modern looking and `user friendly’. These are modular, fire resistant distribution boxes applicable for home distribution use. It is easy to install and use with a beautiful design that blends with your interior. That way you do not need to hide it in the kitchen cabinet like the conventional panelboard.

  • Be extra cautious when operating electrical appliances near water supply points and ensure to turn it off after use. Appliances which were immersed in water should be disposed immediately or taken to the nearest appliances service center.

Meiji IP54 Enclosures

  • Never try to repair electrical system by removing tree twigs off electricity lines. Make sure your outdoor enclosures are weatherproof and rust proof like the MEIJI MHWP03 and MHWP05 IP54 WEATHERPROOF ENCLOSURES. These are made with fine, white, polycarbonate thermo-plastic materials to protect your circuit breakers from rain, dirt, dust, oil and spraying water. These will also not rust like the common steel type, or become brittle and crack like ordinary plastic enclosures.

  • Do not get near amassed water around electrical installations that may have downed wires nearby. Immediately call the electric company and report the location of any electrical fault and downed power cables.

Meiji AVR

  • Expect power interruptions due to heavy rains and typhoons. Buy a MEIJI Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) SVC 500-10000 for your refrigerators and flat screen TVs. It is used to protect your computers and other appliances against surging and fluctuating of electricity by maintaining the load voltage against voltage variances. The Meiji AVRs are available from 500VA to 10,000VA. It also has a `power-on delay’ of about 3 minutes so as to protect the appliance from sudden surges of electricity after a power outage or brown-out; however, it also has a quick-start feature to override this in case of an immediate need.

  • Treat every loose wire as if it is always energized. Keep your distance from it and do not touch it unless you are already tested it or is certain that it is indeed a live wire.

Meiji Voltage Protector with Timer

  • Voltage protectors should always be installed together with sensitive appliances which are plugged in power outlets. Install the Meiji Voltage Protector (TC-V002) to your refrigerators, laptops, and other appliances. It is a device that protects your appliance by cutting off power as it reaches the minimum allowable voltage drop or exceeds the maximum over voltage rating. It also has a `power-on-delay’ of about 2 minutes which can help prevent inrush current especially after a power outage or brown-out that may damage your appliances.

  • Eliminate any accumulated combustible materials such as dust, dried leaves, fabric and paper from the area where electricity sources and appliances are located.

It’s school time again! With the start of school, families face new organization challenges. The kids probably feel excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over, some kids feel nervous or a little scared on their first day of school. Early morning alarm clocks, homework and projects are just some things to expect. Get organized now for the new school year ahead. Use these ideas to prepare your home and family for the busy days ahead.

  1. TCV003 Meiji Aircon to Fan TimerThe first day of school is no time for a drastic adjustment of household sleep schedules. Instead, ease children back into a school year routine gradually. By this time, late sleepers should wake up earlier, closer to the hour they’ll need to rise when school begins. An alternative way to help them wake up is to set your aircon to turn off at an earlier time. Use the Meiji Aircon to Fan Timer TCV003 to automatically set your aircon to turn off at a specific time and your electric fan to turn on immediately after. It allows you to plug-in your air conditioner and electric fan in one unit with its international and universal outlet with 4400W and 20A load capacity. This way your children will wake up earlier and you save energy at the same time.

  1. Don’t neglect meal times! Younger children, in particular, need to adapt to new meal routines before the school day demands it of them. Plan and prepare them fresh fruits and balanced meals to get them energized throughout the day.

  1. School supplies should already be bought by now. Label your entire children’s belongings so it can be returned to them when it gets misplaced.

Meiji UPS

4. Take some time to clean and organize a place for studying. Avoid too much clutter that can make kids feel discouraged to study. Arrange pens, books, calculator and computer. Make sure to connect the computer to the Meiji UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). A UPS is a device used specifically computers as back-up power whenever there is a power outage or brown-out. That way you can save your data before shutting down the computer. This is a very good investment for children who work with their computers for their research and projects. With the Meiji UPS, you don’t need to worry when a brown-out occurs, because all the kid’s homework can still be saved.

  1. Encourage your child to eat and dress by themselves so they can manage things like taking raincoats on and off at school. Through independence, children get to enhance their skills, develop their personality and make decisions.

  1. MES 1404Limit distractions while studying. Detach kids from their cellphone, tablets and other electronic gadgets.Set a schedule on when they can resume using them. Try placing it out of their reach or place them in a charging station. The MEIJI QUAD EXTENSION SET MES-1404 will be useful since it has 4 international outlets and 4 USB outlets. With its Quad shape, you can utilize all outlets at the same time without the adaptors and cords being tangled up. You can charge up to 8 different gadgets simultaneously.

Please refer to the attached pictures of the above-mentioned ‘Meiji’ items. The Meiji MGU-252 Keeps Up with Modern Technology

Electronic devices have become a necessity across almost all generations now, with a majority now owning cell phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches etc. Millennials are leading the way, using electronic devices for a variety of functions, including internet, email, music, games, video and a whole lot of things you could only imagine before. As more and more people use and depend on their electronic devices, Meiji Electric designed the Meiji MGU252, the only Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) that has one international outlet and 2 USB outlets. Aside from the international outlet that accommodates any plug, it allows users to charge 2 separate USB powered electronic devices directly from the wall and eliminates the need of bulky adaptors while giving you the protection from ground fault.

MGU 252

What is ground fault? Not everyone really understand what this means. Basically, a ground fault is an electrical path between a power source and a grounded surface. Almost all electrical devices and appliances are “grounded” to ensure they can be safely operated by consumers, but devices can still lose their grounding and redirect electrical currents to the nearest channel that provides a path to the ground, which is your body. This can especially occur in wet areas like toilets, bathrooms and laundry areas, wherein your wet hands or body becomes a conductor of electricity. This is why it is important to install the Meiji Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The GFCI’s function is to constantly monitor the power current flowing through a circuit, and the moment the GFCI detects a current imbalance, it shuts off the power to that outlet thus preventing serious injury.

With the ongoing advancements in technology, Meiji Electric being known for providing innovative items, also improves their line of electrical items to ensure convenience and protection in homes and commercial establishments. The Meiji MGU252 not only protects you and your family, it also follows UL standards giving you confidence and assurance of its reliability and durability.

UB-252

The MGU252 is easy to install and it comes with a FREE custom-made 3’’x 3’’ utility box. Its modern design blends with interior decor, making it suitable for home, office, hotels, meeting rooms, restaurants, airport lounges and more.

If your GFCI gets tripped, you can just press the reset button to restore power to the circuit. It is advisable to test the GFCI monthly to check if it is functioning accurately. It is also recommended that GFCIs be installed in areas where appliances and power tools are used in close proximity to water. They are most often found in kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms, or even out-of-doors or in the garage where electric power tools might be used.

Add 1 Wire, Save a Life!

2 & 3 Pronged Plugs Ever wondered why some plugs have 2 prongs while others have 3? Well, it is all about safety!  Electricity must flow in an uninterrupted circuit. Electrocutions often occur in homes due to defective products, such as appliances, power tools, and improper wiring. Children are particularly susceptible to electrocution not only because of their never ending curiosity but also because they can sense an electrical current as low as 0.006A (6mA). Faulty installations or repairs can also result in electrocution and are a primary cause of electrical accidents at home.

0922 Desc

Take a look at your home outlets for instance, the right smaller slot is for the HOT wire, this is where electricity comes from; the left wider slot is for the neutral wire, this wire completes the circuit and feeds the electricity back into the system.

Implement this idea into a larger power distribution system and you’ve created a huge problem. If excess voltage is applied to the circuit, like a lightning for example, all the excess energy must travel through your electrical network, potentially exploding everything connected to it. To prevent this, a third ground wire is connected straight to your breaker enclosure and is driven straight to the earth. Now when a lightning strikes into your system, the excess energy is directed into the land instead, but we have now created another problem. Before all of this, the only way to be shocked is when you touched both the neutral and hot wires, in that case your body would close the electrical circuit and the voltage would travel through you, from one wire to the other. Now, because of grounding, half of the electrical system is always indirectly connected to you, through your feet. Meaning you only need to touch a single wire or a metal object electrified by one to become an unfortunate circuit. This is why some appliances have the third prong. It is a safety feature for devices with metal cases. It protects the items from wear and tear, aging and faulty manufacturing. A hot wire from within the appliance could come loose and make contact with the metallic case, without the 3rd prong, you could be lethally shocked when touching it. Appliances with this third prong have a wire that connects directly from the metallic case and back to the outlet. Voltage along this path would trip the breaker and cut off the electricity that could potentially kill you.

Meiji Items with Grounding

Prevent serious injury or an accident from happening in your home by using Meiji GFCI’s, AVRS (Automatic Voltage Regulator), UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply), Wiring Devices, Extension Sets, and Timers which all have grounding or 3rd prongs.  The whole family of Meiji Electric’s GFCI’s MGU252MGF250GF250 and LG20 are classified as Class A in accordance with UL943. This is because all Meiji Electric GFCI’s have a 6mA sensitivity rating, unlike other GFCIs being sold in the markets which only have 15mA rating or even higher. UL Standard indicates the `let go factor’ of women and children should not be more than 6mA sensitivity rating because anything above this range is where `freezing currents’ start and it may not be possible to `let go.’ The Meiji GFCI is different from conventional receptacles, because in the event of a ground fault, it automatically trips, and stops the flow of electricity to your body, thus preventing serious injury. Meiji GFCI’s will work even without a grounded wire, even if a utility box isn’t grounded, installing a GFCI in it will still protect you (and your tools and appliances) from ground faults. The Electrical Code requires installing a GFCI for all wet areas, this is necessary to avoid ground fault which happens when electricity passes through our wet body before it reaches the ground.

UB-252

Our newest addition is the MGU252, the only square GFCI with a combination of 1 international outlet and 2 USB outlets. It is designed for ease of use with all USB-dependent gadgets and devices while protecting you in wet prone areas. For your convenience, we will be giving a FREE custom-made 3’’x 3’’ utility box UB-252 so you don’t need to worry on where to get one.

So the next time you see that 3rd prong, just remember that it could save your life! How does a Key Card Switch Work?

$

keycard-switch

Key Card Switches are generally used in hotels and high end condominiums.  After check-in verification in hotels, the front desk personnel will give the guest a key card to his/her assigned room. Upon getting into the assigned room and inserting the key card in a key card slot by the main door of the room, all the lights and other controlled circuits will automatically turn on. Upon leaving the room, guests remove the key card and the lights and other controlled circuits will turn off after a standby delay of a few seconds. This is to ensure that the guest/s have safely exited the room before the power turns off. Aside from the aesthetically appealing design, hospitality establishments install key card switches to help reduce energy costs. This is because all lighting, heating and power (aside from the refrigerator) circuits only become operational once the card is inserted in the key card slot.

meiji-panel-with-key-card-control

A little known fact for hotel guests is that in order for a key card switch to effectively operate, it needs a control panel. The Meiji Home Panel with Key Card Control has circuit breakers, timer/s and magnetic contactor/s to effectively operate Key Card Switches commonly installed in hospitality establishments. A magnetic contactor is a switchgear device that is like a relay but has a higher current capacity. It is mechanically and electrically durable to withstand frequent switching on and off operations with high power. The housing of the Meiji Home Panel with Key Card Control is a modular powder coated metal distribution box applicable for electric circuit terminals rated at 220/400V, 60Hz. The cover is made of special fire retardant, impact resistant ABS PC alloy material with slot/s for timer/s and magnetic contactor/s.  Various hotels in the Philippines have already installed this in their individual rooms so you are sure of its safety and durability.

How to Safely Store Christmas Decors

$
0
0

Meiji Electric hopes that your holiday season was filled with the warm company of friends and family. The holiday season is over, which means that it is time to put away your Christmas decorations. Here are some reminders to help keep safely storing your decors a holiday tradition in your home and in the future:

Meiji Fiber Optic Trees

  1. Let’s start with the highlight of the Christmas Season, the Christmas tree. You want to make sure that it is stored well, so it will continue to look great year after year. The box that the tree came in can be used to repackage it, but it can be a challenge to fit the tree back in after it’s been fluffed. Good thing the Meiji Fiber Optic Tree is so compact and easy to disassemble. You just have to fold its leaves and you are done in less than 10 minutes!

2. Holiday decorations are meant for temporary use.  Leaving your decorations up for extended periods leaves wires unnecessarily exposed to the elements, which can decrease the product’s shelf life and increase the risk of electrical hazards. Store electrical decorations in a dry area that is not accessible by children or pets.

3. As you take down holiday lights, inspect the wiring and discard any that have cracked or appear to have damaged wire insulation. Always unplug decorations by using the plug or gripping area.  Pulling on the cord could damage the wire and present a shock or fire hazard.

4. Make sure to properly label or store indoor decorations separate from those intended for outdoor use. Put your old shoe boxes to good use; wrap your Christmas balls then store them inside the old shoe box.

Meiji Christmas Village

  1. Storing your Meiji Christmas Village involves ensuring that it will look as good next Christmas as it did the year before. Most Christmas villages include small, breakable buildings so storing your village properly is really important. Keep the box in which your Christmas village originally came from; this comes with Styrofoam to ensure that the small ornaments in the village do not get damaged.  For older village pieces that are missing their original boxes, you can wrap each Christmas village in bubble wrap before putting it in a storage box. While it might be tempting to put two pieces together, those pieces can bump against one another and cause scratching, discoloration and breakage.

  1. Christmas lights should be kept away from places with extreme temperatures and humidity. These factors can harm the filament of the bulbs. Also guard against mice because they can chew on the wires and ruin the strand of Christmas lights. Tangled wires are difficult to unwind and prone to bulb breakage. Christmas lights made with incandescent bulbs are normally switched on for long consecutive hours which can cause overheating. For safety reasons, it is advisable to have it checked by an electrician before using it again. Neatly wrap Christmas lights help make the decorating process faster and easier to re-use for the next Holiday Season.

Remember that you invested time and money in buying your special Christmas ornaments each year. These decors not only add cheerfulness to the Christmas Season, some also have high sentimental value so they need to be properly kept and maintained.

In today’s world, it is so depressing to see that terrible crimes are being committed and unsuspecting people fall victim to theft and burglaries. It is essential to keep your homes safe with home security equipment ranging from CCTV surveillance cameras to motion sensors.

What is a Motion Sensor?

Motion sensors are electronic devices that, through varying techniques, detect movement and allow the triggering of a device through the detection of movement.

Meiji Ceiling-type Motion Sensor (MS-02) is a fully automatic indoor security light controller capable of controlling your lights up to 1200W incandescent or 300W fluorescent lighting. With detection distance of 3 to 6 meters (<24˚), all movements can be spotted accurately. Like the light switches in our home, Meij needs a 220-240VAC power supply.

Meiji Ceiling-type Motion Sensors can also be effectively used in areas that are often unoccupied, including some offices, warehouses, storerooms, restrooms, corridors, stairwells, office lounges, and conference rooms. Meiji Ceiling-type Motion Sensor can also be useful in schools, colleges, nurseries, churches, libraries, and other areas where security is a concern.

When it comes to home security, having solid peace of mind is important for homeowners so it is necessary to invest in the proper equipment. Buying the best can ensure a greater peace of mind and overall home security.

Meiji White Panel Board

Meiji Electric- the leading electrical supplier in the Philippines, have always taken pride in introducing innovative items to the market. They were the first company to aggressively offer the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), Marine Vapor Lamps, Contactor Transfer Switches (CTS), Key Card Control System and Home Panel Boards (MHP) in the Philippines. With company’s continuous endeavor to occupy significant items in the Electrical Controls market, Meiji Electric is proud to introduce the “Meiji White Panel Board”.

Meiji White Panel

The Meiji White Panel is a combination of Metal Panel Box and the Meiji Home Panel Plastic Cover. This was made as a response to the increasing needs of consultants and contractors who needs a bigger Ampere capacity for their main circuit breakers. Doesn’t ring a bell? Let me explain it to you:

What is a Panel Board?

The National Electrical Code® (NEC®) defines a panel board as a single panel or group of panel units designed for assembly in the form of a single panel, including buses and automatic over-current devices, and equipped with or without switches for the control of light, heat, or power circuits; designed to be placed in a cabinet or cutout box placed in or against a wall, partition, or other support; and accessible only from the front.

In summary, according to the NEC® definition, panel boards are:

  • Used to control light, heat, or power circuits
  • Placed in a cabinet or cutout box
  • Mounted in or against a wall
  • Accessible only from the front

Panel Boards are used in residential, commercial buildings and industrial facilities to safely control the distribution of electrical power throughout the facility. Most of us are familiar with the panel board found in a regular home. Power, purchased from a utility company like Meralco, enters the house through a metering device or what we normally call kilowatt hour meter. The power is then distributed from a load center to various branch circuits for lighting, appliances, and electrical outlets.

Now that you know what a panel board is, you are probably wondering what’s so special about the Meiji White Panel board? Hint: It is not just about the color.

The Meiji White Panel Board is a customized panel that is a hybrid of metal panel board and the Meiji Home Panel.

What is a Meiji Home Panel?

The Meiji Home Panel are modular distribution boxes applicable to electric circuit terminals rated at 220V Line to Line or 400V Line to Neutral. It is beautifully designed for simple installation and disassembly. It is widely used in household, tall buildings, townhouse residences, condominiums, etc. The plastic components of MHP modular panel box adapts to fire resistant ABS, which is impact resistant. It has convenient din rail and height adjustment features, as well as provisions for neutral and grounding.

Meiji Home Panel

Due to the compact design of the Meiji Home Panel, it can only accommodate a miniature circuit breaker up to 125 Ampere rating. This is the common problem of contractors since bigger houses require main breakers with higher ampacity. They will have to buy an independent enclosure for the main breaker and place the branches in a separate Meiji Home Panel.

To solve this problem, Meiji Electric came up with the Meiji While Panel– a newly designed panel board that shares the same good qualities of the Meiji Home Panel but only better because it can now accommodate a Molded Case Circuit breaker of 225A and even higher.

Meiji White Panel Board

With this advancement, you will no longer need a separate enclosure for your main circuit breaker. Some of you might be wondering, why not just get a standard panel board and get it over? The thing is, Meiji Home Panels and the White Panel Board are less expensive than the standard metal panel board. Add that they are very aesthetically appealing, therefore you don’t need to hide them in your kitchen cabinet. ‘Less expensive’ does not mean less quality, though, Meiji Electric has been in the marketing and fabrication of electrical control products for more than 30 years now, and with their vast number of customers, you can be assured of the quality and reliability of all their products. As a matter of fact, a leading construction and contracting company in the Philippines recently acquired a number of “Meiji White Panel” for the new townhouses that they are developing in New Manila, Quezon City. With this new partnership, expect to see more of the “Meiji White Panels” across the metro.

Meiji White Panel Interior

Like the Meiji Home Panel, the Meiji White Panel can also accommodate up to 40x2P branches. Match them with the PS Quality Certified Meiji Miniature Circuit Breakers for your utmost electrical protection. No competing product comes close in terms of features, ease of use and price.

Meiji Electric LVSG

Meiji Electric also offers Lighting and Distribution Panel Boards that can be customized to meet specific customer needs, without compromising the high degree of standards and engineering. Manual Transfer Switch (MTS), Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Low Voltage Switch Gears (LVSG), Main Distribution Panels (MDP), Capacitor Banks, Busbar Gutters, Control Box and Frequency Inverter Controlled Systems, and related items are also available.

When it comes to the safety of your family, homes and establishments, power and electricity is not something that should be taken lightly. Trust only the best to have a peace of mind and avoid complications in the future.

With new technological advancements and gadgets being released, we all have multiple devices to charge every day. From phones, to tablets, to smart watches. An average person could be charging 3 to 4 devices each day, and every gadget needs a USB cable and adaptor to charge. This all leads to tangled USB cables, bulky wall adaptors and a short supply of wall outlets.

There is a solution to this charging dilemma though, The Meiji 2.1 USB wall outlet.

Meiji USB Outlet 2.1A

Meiji 1-3 Gang USB Outlets 2.1A

The Meiji USB outlet 2.1A (MCS-0524) is the latest and upgraded USB outlet that can accommodate all of your gadgets that uses the standard USB cord. The advantage of using the Meiji USB wall socket is it’s convenience. With a regular outlet, the outlets are used up by bulky wall adaptors. When you install the Meiji USB outlet 2.1A, the regular outlets will freed up and your electrical gadgets can be connected directly to the wall rather than through adaptors.

Not all USB outlets are created equal, though. A standard USB amperage output is 1A. All USB devices will charge on low amperage ports, but devices with large batteries–like the latest laptops, tablets, smartphones will take a long time to fully recharge on lower amperage ports. So for those devices, it’s better to use the Meiji 2.1 USB outlet to charge them, as it can charge twice as fast than a regular 1A USB outlet.

Meiji USB 2.1A Combination Outlet

Meiji USB 2.1A Combination Outlets

Installation of the Meiji USB 2.1A outlet is as easy as installing a normal outlet. It can also be positioned in any part of your house. Meiji Electric weatherproof enclosures

The Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosure is one of the unique best selling items here at Meiji Electric. Due to this, we decided to release a new and improved version that can accommodate your circuit breakers up to 26 poles. The Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosure IP65 MHWP 03, MHWP 05, MHWP 09, MHWP 13 and MHWP 26 enclosures are designed to give protection to your breakers against various weather elements without deterioration.

Today, there are multiple types of enclosures which are made of various materials and with multiple ratings, so it’s hard to know which outdoor enclosure will be more ideal, less expensive and will be able to stand the test of time. Here are the steps that you should consider when choosing a weatherproof enclosure.

STEP 1: KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Where will your sensitive electrical equipment be located?

  • Outdoors?
  • Close to salt water or in a hot, dusty area?
  • In the shade or in full sunlight?
  • On a pole or mounted to a wall?

Airborne debris, rain and other environmental elements can damage your improperly installed electrical enclosure. For example, salt spray is highly corrosive and can cause metallic enclosures even made of stainless steel to rust. So it would be better to purchase an outdoor weatherproof enclosure that is made of polycarbonate thermoplastic material.

STEP 2: VERIFY THE IP RATING OF THE ENCLOSURE FOR YOUR SAFETY

If your enclosure is to be located in an area that is regularly rainy, or has damp weather conditions then IP65 would suit you.

IP rating is a standard that is used to define the levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies such as dirt and water. The rating consists of the letters IP followed by 2 digits, the digit stands for the level of protection that the enclosure provides against solid bodies, the second digit describes the degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against water.

IP Table

As you can see from the chart above, the Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosures which are rated at IP65, can protect your circuit breakers from total dust ingress and low pressure water jets from any direction. And due to its polycarbonate thermoplastic material,  the Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosures will never rust or corrode in any rainy or damp outdoor situation.

STEP 3: IS IT DURABLE AND BUDGET FRIENDLY?

There are enclosures available for almost every price point. Pricing depends on materials and customization like UL Standard NEMA 3R for outdoors or NEMA 4X which is a stainless enclosure that is quite expensive. The Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosure features a modern-day design that has a smoky cover which allows you to view the circuit breakers inside. It is made of a special polycarbonate thermoplastic material to protect your circuit breakers from sun, rain, dirt, oil and spraying water. Unlike the usual metal NEMA 3R enclosures, which tend to rust and discolor over a period of time, the Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosures will not deteriorate even when exposed to heavy rain and sunlight. Yet compared to a NEMA 3R enclosure, the price is practically the same. It is also very affordable compared to  NEMA 4X stainless enclosures. The Meiji MHWP series weatherproof enclosures cost less than one half compared to NEMA 4X enclosures. It comes in different models MHWP 03, MHWP 05, MHWP 09, MHWP 13 and MWHP 26 which can house 3,5,9,13 and up to 26 poles of miniature circuit breakers, ranging from 1 ampere to 125 ampere frame.
